Privacy Policy
Curtain collects nothing. It makes no network connections, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and has no accounts or servers. Nothing you do in Curtain leaves your Mac.
Data we collect
None. There is no data collection of any kind — not anonymised, not aggregated, not "for diagnostics". Curtain has no code that opens a network connection, and no third-party SDKs are bundled with it.
In App Store terms, Curtain's privacy declaration is Data Not Collected.
What is stored on your Mac
Curtain saves your settings locally, using the standard macOS preferences system. That is your unlock hotkey, overlay opacity, whether the unlock hint is shown, and flags recording that you have completed first-run setup. These stay on your Mac, are never transmitted, and are removed when you delete the app's preferences.
Keyboard and mouse input
The directly downloaded edition asks for Accessibility permission so it can stop local keyboard and mouse input from reaching your apps while the curtain is up. Curtain inspects only which process an input event came from, so it can tell the keyboard on your desk apart from a remote-control session. It does not record, store or transmit keystrokes, and it is not a keylogger.
Curtain writes short diagnostic messages to the local macOS system log — for example that the input filter started, or the name of a process whose input was allowed through, such as a screen-sharing agent. These lines stay in your Mac's own log and are never sent anywhere. They contain no keystrokes.
Touch ID and your password
Unlocking uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. macOS performs the authentication; Curtain receives only whether it succeeded or failed. Curtain never sees your fingerprint or your password, and biometric data is not accessible to it.
Screen contents
Curtain draws an opaque overlay. It does not capture, read, record or transmit what is on your screen.
Sharing and selling
There is nothing to share. No data is sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties, advertisers or data brokers, because none is gathered in the first place.
Children
Curtain is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data do not arise here, as no personal data is held. To remove Curtain's local settings, delete the app and its preferences.
Changes
If a future version ever collects anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the release notes. The current version collects nothing.
